Wiring and Panel Upgrades

Why Upgrade?

  • Homes that are older may have outdated wiring such as knob and tube, aluminum wiring and wires with insufficient grounding, are not considered safe and should be upgraded to current code standards.
  • Panel upgrades are done for multiple reasons. The most common is if a panel starts to fail and becomes unsafe. Some of the older panels also do not have replacement parts readily available such as Zinsco, Federal Pacific and fuse boxes. Another reason to upgrade a panel is if you are adding additional circuits or solar.
  • Panel upgrades require permits from local building departments and inspections. These projects require coordination with the local utility company to disconnect and reconnect power to the location which means the power will be off for the duration of the project.
